Today Scientist Marie came to teach us about energy. There were five different activities where we learned about:
1. Heat Energy 2. Solar Energy 3. Sources of Energy 4. Energy Chains 5. Energy Conservation It has been a very busy first week back! In language, we have started working on the reading comprehension strategy of Visualization. When we visualize we create a picture in our head based on the information that we read. In math we are working on patterning. In science we've started talking about living and non-living things. In health, we are talking about healthy eating and the different food groups. Patterning Science Today we went to Forest School with Mrs. Smith. We learned about tracks and played a fun predator prey game.
Today we had a visit from children's author Elly MacKay. She talked about writing her books and showed us the techniques she uses to make the pictures. The students got to experiment with lighting and made a collaborative poster.
Today we had a presentation from the Toronto Zoo's Great Lakes Outreach Program. The program encourages students, educators and families to "Keep our Great Lakes Great" while learning about five local fish species at risk:
